Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 July 2026 · Lees deze pagina in het Nederlands

Maevy is a daily wellness companion. We built it to feel personal and quiet, and that includes how we treat your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, on what legal basis, and the control you have. In short: your mood entries, notes and photos are private by design — we never sell them, never use them for advertising, and never use them to train AI models.

1. Who we are

Maevy ("Maevy", "we", "us") is operated from the Netherlands and is the controller responsible for your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@maevy.life.

2. Information we collect

  • Account details — your name and email address when you create an account (or the details shared by Apple or Google if you sign in with them), so your data can sync across your devices. You can also add an optional profile photo.
  • Your entries — the moods, intensities, emotion tones, notes, photos, activities and habits you choose to log. When you dictate a note, the speech-to-text conversion happens on your device; only the resulting text is stored — the audio never leaves your phone and we never receive it.
  • Practice data — sessions you complete, streaks, favourites and reminders you set.
  • Song intentions — the short intention text you enter when you create a personal Meditation Song.
  • Purchase data — your subscription status and entitlements (managed via the App Store, Google Play and RevenueCat). We never see or store your payment card details.
  • Technical data — basic device information, an app instance identifier, a push notification token (if you enable notifications), usage statistics and crash reports, so we can keep the app stable and improve it.
  • Support messages — if you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you.

3. What we do not collect

  • No precise location, no contacts, no address book.
  • No advertising identifiers and no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
  • No voice recordings — dictation runs on your device and only the text is stored.
  • No payment card details — payments are handled entirely by Apple and Google.

4. How we use your information, and our legal bases

Under the GDPR we must have a legal basis for everything we do with your data. These are ours:

  • Providing the app and syncing your journal across devices — performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • Storing and processing the wellbeing entries you log (moods, notes, photos) — your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), which you give when you start using Maevy. See section 5.
  • Personalising the session Maevy recommends for how you feel — performance of our contract. Recommendations are simple in-app personalisation you control; we make no automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
  • Sending the reminders and notifications you asked for — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in the app or your device settings.
  • Managing your subscription and entitlements — performance of our contract.
  • Fixing bugs, keeping the service secure and preventing abuse — our legitimate interest in running a stable, safe service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), using the minimum data needed.
  • Complying with the law — legal obligations that apply to us (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

We do not use your data to serve ads, we do not sell it, and we do not use your private entries to train AI models.

5. A special note on your wellbeing data

Your mood entries and journal notes can reveal information about your health and emotional wellbeing. Under the GDPR this is "special category" data and gets extra protection. We process it only with your explicit consent, only to provide the features you use (your journal, insights and recommendations), and for nothing else. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting individual entries or your whole account — see section 12.

6. Your private content

Your mood entries, journal notes and photos are private by design. They are never shown in notifications, never shared publicly, never sold and never used for advertising. Anything you share out of the app (like a mood summary image) contains only what you can see on it before you share, and sharing is always your action.

7. When we share information

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We share limited data only:

  • with the service providers listed in section 8, acting on our instructions and only as needed to run Maevy;
  • if we are legally required to (for example a valid court order); or
  • if Maevy is ever part of a merger or acquisition — your data would remain protected under this policy and we would notify you before any change takes effect.

8. Our service providers

  • Google Firebase (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC) — authentication, database, file storage, analytics, crash reporting, push notifications and app integrity checks.
  • RevenueCat, Inc. — subscription management (receives your subscription status and an app user identifier, never your journal).
  • Apple App Store & Google Play — purchases and subscriptions. Payment details are handled by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies.
  • Music generation provider (Suno) — when you create your own Meditation Song, the intention text you enter is sent through our secure Cloud Functions to generate your track. Only that intention text is sent — never your journal, mood entries or account details.

Each provider is bound by a data processing agreement and may only use your data to provide their service to us.

9. Data security

Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, stored with Google Firebase in the European Union where available. Access is restricted to what is needed to run the service, requests are verified with app integrity checks, and we follow appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

10. Data retention

  • We keep your data for as long as your account is active.
  • When you delete an entry, it is removed from your account right away.
  • Messages in your in-app inbox are automatically deleted after 7 days.
  • When you delete your account, your personal data is permanently deleted from our live systems immediately, and from backups within 30 days.
  • Anonymous, aggregated statistics that can no longer identify you may be kept to understand overall usage.

11. International data transfers

Maevy is operated from the EU and we prefer EU data storage. Some of our providers (such as Google and RevenueCat) may process data in other countries, including the United States. Where data leaves the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards: an adequacy decision such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

12. Your rights and controls

You are in control of your data. Directly in the app you can:

  • Edit or delete individual entries at any time.
  • Delete your account and all associated data — Profile → Delete account, or see Delete your account.
  • Turn notifications and reminders on or off.

Under the GDPR you also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your data, the right to data portability (a copy of your data in a machine-readable format), and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting past processing. Email support@maevy.life and we will help — including sending you an export of your data if you ask. We respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl); elsewhere in the EU/EEA or the UK, your local authority.

13. Children's privacy

Maevy is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Our website

This website (maevy.life) is a simple static site. It sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. Your language preference is stored locally in your browser and never sent to us. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address) briefly for security. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads; see Google's privacy policy for details.

15. Not medical advice

Maevy supports everyday wellbeing. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical or mental-health diagnosis or treatment. If you are struggling, please reach out to a qualified professional or a local support line.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above. If a change meaningfully affects how we handle your data, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.
